Soffit and Fascia Installation

What is Soffit?

Soffit is a French word that means “fixed underneath,” but being a cool word isn’t all it is. Soffit is usually a vinyl or aluminum board that is affixed to your home underneath the overhang between your siding and your roof. However, this isn’t the only place where you’ll find it.

Sometimes soffit is made of fiber cement, wood, or steel, and if you don’t find it underneath the overhang of your roof, you might find it under porches, arches, columns, or a flight of stairs.

Soffit’s main purpose is to protect your roof’s rafters from weather, prevent mold buildup, and help mitigate the risk of rotting beams. It also helps keep your home properly ventilated and allows it to breathe by allowing your attic or loft to have a regular airflow. That means it’s also helpful for increasing the energy efficiency of your home. Reach out to us below to learn more about the benefits of this material.

Where Does Fascia Fit IN?

Fascia is, like soffit, something you’ve seen dozens of times and probably didn’t know what it was. Usually, fascia is the flat band of material that surrounds the roofing of your house and is where your gutters are normally attached.

Aside from giving your home a finished, attractive look, fascia helps support the framework of your soffit and allows it to meld seamlessly with your roofing, and there are several different materials you can use for your fascia to increase its effectiveness.

Although you can use a traditional wood for your fascia, it’s not always the best alternative, so we recommend you try to get a better feel for what you would like by seeing different options before you decide on what you would like for your home. Aluminum and vinyl are both great options.

Additionally, you can also explore different textures and formats for your home’s fascia, so you don’t have to feel like you’re tied down to one particular visual style. Contact us below to discuss your options.

I had my windows installed about 18 months ago. The first winter that happened I started to get water coming through just a little. Later, I started getting full on leaking. I can never get anyone to call me back to address the issue. I don't feel at all that I got a good value.Update: I was contacted by the company, and they came out and resealed a lot of the windows. They were nice and attentive. I'm still not sure how great these windows are as I'm not a window person, but the company itself is very good.

I am completely impressed with Mountain States Windows and Siding. We needed to replace a very small section of vinyl siding on our house. Most companies weren't willing to help me find a match or sell me such a small amount. But Mountain States was so helpful! They were responsive, knowledgable, and generous. They really bent over backwards to help me get the couple pieces I needed (and quickly, too!). There really is no job too small for these guys! I highly recommend this professional, accommodating, honest company.
